Eighteenth WMO Congress (Cg-18) decided on Hydrological Assembly and Hydrological Coordination Panel (HCP)

The eighteenth session of the World Meteorological Congress (Cg-18) with the intention of supporting the Strategic Plan of WMO, adopted the restructuring of the technical commissions into two, namely, the Commission for Observation, Infrastructure and Information Systems (Infrastructure Commission or INFCOM) and the Commission for Weather, Climate, Water and Related Environmental Services and Applications (Services Commission or SERCOM).

As the hydrological value chain is now spread across the two commissions, the WMO Hydrological Assembly has been established as an open Committee of Congress to make recommendations to the Congress and relevant constituent bodies on matters related to hydrology according to the Annex 2 to Resolution 24 (Cg-18). The core members of the Hydrological Assembly should be Hydrological Advisers as designated by Members and representatives of National Hydrological Services or other national hydrological agencies as designated by Members. The Hydrological Coordination Panel (HCP) acts as the body supporting the Hydrological Assembly.
