Estimation of Freshwater Fluxes into the Oceans and Inland Seas / Thomas de Couet, Global Runoff Data Centre, Federal Institute of Hydrology, Koblenz, Germany.
Freshwater discharge from continents into the oceans is of major interest in research concerned with global monitoring of freshwater resources, the flux of matter into coastal areas and the open oceans, and the influence of freshwater fluxes on circulation patterns in the ocean and the atmosphere on regional and global scales. The requirement for estimation of freshwater fluxes from continents into oceans or inland seas is the creation of watersheds.
