Monitoring and warning networks

In close co-operation with the Waterways and Shipping Administration (WSV) the BfG operates comprehensive monitoring networks which focus on morphology, water quality, ecotoxicology, radiology, or macrozoobenthos.

Through its work for the WSV sediment survey and its permanent monitoring stations (DMS SK), to the network of radiological warning stations (RWS), and the water sampling and monitoring stations (WUK), which were installed to collect evidence in the context of waterway development projects, the BfG has a nationwide presence. For the German Environmental Ministry it regularly monitors water, sediment, and suspended matter in transboundary rivers and lakes and in coastal waters.

On the right you find some examples of the BfG's activities in the field of monitoring and warning networks (in German language).
